“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” – Psalm 119:105
This verse always bring to mind the old story of the monastery that was built without electric light. As the monks traversed the building and the paths on the grounds, each one was given a candle that attached to their footwear.
The candle did not illuminate the entire area, of course, but gave then enough light for the next step. And it was enough. Sometimes we would like to see the whole picture – to have God shine a bright light on our situation so we know exactly what’s what. Sometimes, God does just that. At other times, we only receive light for the next step of our journey. Trusting God, it is enough. May you walk through these days of Advent knowing you will have light sufficient for your journey.
