The Deacons Shop

– our ministry of recycling used clothing to the people of Bowling Green. We sort & fold clothes on Wednesday mornings-come join us! The staff from the Deacons’ Shop thanks everyone who supplied hats, gloves, or scarves for the Mitten Tree. We have a nice supply to carry us through the winter.

Have you ever noticed the “little blue shopping cart” in the office hallway near the elevator? Sometimes it has food in it…sometimes it doesn’t. This food collection cart is a project of the Deacons. When the little cart fills with non-perishable food, one of the Deacons takes the food to the Bowling Green Christian Food Pantry. Unfortunately, the cart doesn’t magically replenish itself. This is where we need your help. The next time you are shopping check out the sales and consider buying a few extra cans, boxes, etc. of non-perishable food to help “fill the cart”. BOGO sales (buy one-get one) are a great way to get an extra item for the food pantry at no extra cost to you. Our thanks to those who have been faithfully supplying food for the cart over the years. We hope everyone who is financially able will join us in sharing what we can with our BG neighbors in need.

SUPPORT OF BOWLING GREEN CHRISTIAN FOOD PANTRY— For many years, the Bowling Green Christian Food Pantry has fulfilled a need for those in our community who do not have the resources to meet their basic food requirements.  Our church, along with other churches, has been active in supporting this food pantry through donating food items to be delivered to the BG Pantry.  This outreach is one of a number activities that the Board of Deacons coordinates and hopes our church will support.  We ask your assistance by remembering to bring food items you are willing to share and placing them in the shopping cart located next to the elevator.  Your help is appreciated and will make a difference to those in need!                                            ~Dave Hyslop, Chair of the Deacons
