The Finance Committee has been looking into additional options for giving to the church. We implemented Paypal several years ago, and added Venmo more recently. We’d now like to add Zelle as an option for you. Of course, cash or check donations incur no cost to the church. Some people also use bill pay through their bank account to have the bank send us a check – which is also no cost to you (at most banks) or the church. If electronic methods are most convenient for you, you might consider setting up a regular transaction, which will automatically send your donation to the church. However you choose, we appreciate your support!
Zelle
Zelle is basically a direct bank account transfer, from your account to ours. If your bank offers Zelle, you can set up an account. Then you can use your account to transfer to First Presbyterian Church BG. The accounts are identified by either a phone number or an email address. The First Presbyterian account is identified by the email address: give2fpcbg@gmail.com
There is a fee of 50c per transaction. Despite being misinformed at first, we have determined that Zelle is still the most cost-effective method for electronic donations, except for smaller transactions.
Examples: For a donation of $10: Zelle costs 50c (flat fee)
For a donation of $25: Zelle costs 50c
For a donation of $50:Zelle costs 50c
Venmo
Venmo also requires an account, and is linked to your bank account. It’s easiest to use the QR code that links to the church’s Venmo account. It can be found in the bulletin every week, or is at the bottom of this article.
There is no charge to you for this transaction, but the Church is charged a service fee of 1.9% plus a small (10c) service fee per transaction. If you wish you can donate the cost of the service fee for each transaction.
Examples: For a donation of $10: Venmo costs 29c (1.9% plus 10c)
For a donation of $25: Venmo costs 57c
For a donation of $50: Venmo costs $1.05
Paypal
Like the others, Paypal also requires that you set up an account. Unlike the others, Paypal can be used with a credit card. The Church is not set up to take credit cards directly, but you can use credit cards through Paypal. There is a QR code at the bottom of this page to help you link to First Presbyterian BG.
For every Paypal transaction, the church is charged a service fee of 2.9% plus a small (49c) transaction fee. If you wish you can donate the cost of the service fee for each transaction.
Examples:For a donation of $10: Paypal costs 78c (2.9% plus 49c)
For a donation of $25: Paypal costs $1.21
For a donation of $50: Paypal costs $1.94
